Faith Formation Homepage

The Faith Formation Program

Faith Formation provides religious instruction and spiritual formation for boys and girls in grades 1 to 6. Children have the opportunity to learn the teachings of the Catholic Church, grow in love for God, praise God as members of our parish community, and cultivate faith-based friendships. The primary goal of our program is to help children develop a relationship with God that supports, sustains, challenges, and nurtures them throughout their lives. Our program consists of weekly classes, seasonal celebrations and special activities such as a rosary-making project and a Christian commemoration of the Passover meal.

Walking in faith is a lifelong process, and children need ongoing formation as they grow so that their faith can grow according to their questions and illusions. Students do not "finish" their religious education once they have made First Communion, any more than they "finish" their academic education once they have learned to read. Our program prepares you for a lifelong journey of faith!

PREPARING FOR FIRST COMMUNION

St. Joseph Parish has established a new policy to prepare children for First Communion. We wish to make it easier for children to grow in the faith as Catholic Christians and to participate in the sacramental life of the Church. Children must participate in two years of faith formation before receiving First Communion. Therefore, children who register for the first time in September 2015 will receive First Communion in 2017.

REGISTRATION FEES AND DEADLINES

Registration fees help us defray the costs of books, materials, and use of facilities. We do not turn away any child out of financial need - please contact us to apply for a scholarship.
