St Vincent De Paul

This group provides material and spiritual assistance to the poor and needy within the parish boundaries through personal contact, and in strict confidence. We seek to alleviate suffering and to assist and encourage those we help until our assistance is no longer needed. We need Catholic volunteers who have time to make daytime visits to clients in their homes and who can attend two meetings each month. Teams of two members are on duty one week per month.

Juvenile Hall Ministry

Volunteers visit with incarcerated youth at the Martinez Juvenile Hall. We strive to bring the love and hope of Christ to troubled youth. Volunteers also bring Holy Communion to those Catholic youth who desire it. All volunteers undergo a State background check and are trained in listening and caregiving skills.

The Knights of Columbus

We are a Catholic fraternal service organization with goals of service to St. Joseph Parish. We welcome new male members who are at least 18 years of age, practicing Catholics, who desire to be of service to the church and the Parish community. Meetings: See Parish Bulletin.

Respect Life Ministry

"The culture of life means respect for nature and protection of God's work: creation. In a special way it means respect human life from the first moment of conception to its natural end"...Pope John Paul II, August 15, 1993, Farewell Address in Denver'. Respect Life Ministry aims to integrate into parish life the Catholic position on issues that impact human life. This is accomplished through spiritual means, providing educational materials, legislative activities and pastoral care. Respect Life issues include but are not limited to abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, death penalty, aging, persons with disabilities, research and experimentation on human embryos, prenatal diagnosis, natural family planning, terminal illness and cloning.

Hospital Homebound Visitation Ministry

Visit Catholic residents in homes and assisted care facilities. They are prepared to pray with patients and offer Holy Communion to those who request it. Periodic Masses in the care facilities are offered. Volunteers who are prayerful, supportive, and willing to be committed to this ministry are always welcome.

CCISCO (Contra Costa Interfaith Sponsoring Committee)

The CCISCO believes that all faith communities are called to seek justice and peace for all people. We seek to answer this call by empowering people, building community, reducing violence, and supporting unity in our diversity as we follow a congregation-based organization model. We believe that all people should have a voice in shaping their community for the common good. We propose to listen to our parishioners through person-to-person dialogues, and to provide training so that each person may become an active participant in our community's decision making. We celebrate that all individuals have gifts and talents to improve the quality of life in our communities and we wish to enable each person to contribute to that end.
