Small Christian Communities

Our Parish participated in the RENEW process to develop small faith-sharing groups in our parishioners' neighborhoods. The groups provided those who were interested in deepening their spiritual lives and understanding of Scripture with a venue to share their faith stories with others. In the process of gathering regularly with others who seek to understand Christ's will for their lives, all of the small group members serve as teachers, mentors, and students to each other.

Today these groups are called "Small Christian Communities" or "SCC groups". Each group is led by a specially-trained facilitator using materials provided or recommended by the parish staff. Groups meet on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. Parishioners who are interested in participating in such a group should call Sister Celine at (510) 741-4900 x203 for more information.

To see materials that can be used for weekly small-group prayer, Scripture-study, and reflection, click here. You will be transferred to the Parish Life web page that provides materials keyed to two future Sunday lectionary readings. Click on the Sunday that your SCC group may wish to study and print out that page. If you wish, you may come to the Parish Center to make copies of that material for your SCC group members to share at your next small faith-sharing group meeting.
